In my book for Modern Drummer, "The Great American
Drums", I list the snare drums that I consider most collectible. There are
two additions to the list, but the drums are so rare that most of us may never
see one, let alone own one. Those two are marked by asterisks (*).
The
book also contains pictures of the snares to help identify them. For the sake of
ease of operation, the drums are in alphabetical order by manufacturer and were
made between 1920 and 1969.
We would certainly love to hear from anyone
who has an addition (or deletion) to mention. Enjoy your collecting and remember
to "SAVE THOSE DRUMS".
