The hottest mass produced 60s snare drum that has the
vintage world buzzing is the wood shell Rogers Dyna-Sonic. Every month it seems
that we hear of new record breaking prices. The latest high figure is $1,700,
but we have heard of $2,500. That has not been substantiated.
The
Dyna-Sonic is a 10 lug, five ply top of the line snare with a unique snare side
frame. On the frame is a taut set of wires snares. The frame itself is raised
and lowered by the strainer. The snares are never bent like the snares on
conventional snare drums.
Rob Cook's new work, the Rogers Book, has
lots of pictures of this flagship model. And I am so glad that the late Ben
Strauss lived long enough to see the incredible popularity of the drum he helped
to immortalize.
If you'd like to learn more about Rogers and the
fabulous Dyna-Sonic, I invite you to order an autographed copy of my book,
