In 1922, the Premier Drum Company was founded by two brothers named della Porta. From the beginning, the company has been known as a manufacturer of superior instruments.

Premier is the sole survivor of the many British firms that made percussion products. Many of us in the states aren't too familiar with the names of the companies that lost out- Ajax, Autocrat, Beverly, Carlton, Dallas, to name a few.

Today's Premier is a vital, active company that sells its products all over the world. Besides drums, the company manufacturers drumheads, hardware and mallet instruments. They are easily in the top three providers of orchestral percussion as well.

Premier has had a number of owners, following the della Portas. The current owner is the Verity Group, makers of high fidelity speakers.

I am very fond of Premier. It was the first drum company we represented. Today the Signia, Genista, XPK, and APK sets, the snare drums, the pedals and other hardware are very important products for us.

I'm sure that Albert della Porta would be very proud of his legacy. His little company became world class.
