The Rarest Dyna-Sonic
I was speculating with a friend on what I would consider to
be the rarest, and, therefore, most desirable Rogers Dyna-Sonic.
It all
started because I was questioning how valuable a Black Strata would be. First,
any woodshell DS approaches $2,000. Black Strata on Rogers is known as Oyster
Black on Ludwig. Oyster Black on Ludwig doubles and triples the cost of the
drums. What does it do for Rogers?
I don't know if I am in a minority
or a majority, but I don't think it adds anything. Rogers sets in Black Strata
don't bring appreciable higher values than other colors. The magic of Oyster
Black was that Liverpool guy who used them in the Beatles. He did not use
Rogers.
My speculation is that if one could find a Dyna-Sonic in a
proprietary or almost proprietary Rogers finish, then you'd have a costly item.
My first thought was Scotch Plaid, but I think that was gone about two years
before the first DS hit the streets.
So, my vote is Mardi Gras- that's
the one to find!
